| Day 1: | (8 - 8:30 am) Ride a rickshaw from the tourist hub of Thamel to Kathmandu Durbar Square. You will witness the rituals and lifestyle of the locals as we pass through an ancient marketplace and old quarters of the city. |
| Day 1: | (8:30 - 10:00 am) Explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, where the city’s kings were once crowned and legitimised, and from where they ruled (‘durbar’ means palace). We will also visit the quarters of Kumari,the living goddess. |
| Day 1: | (10:30 am - 12:00 pm) Climb 365 stone steps to reach Swoyambhu Stupa, aka ‘the Monkey Temple.’ The magnificent stupa, believed to be over 2000 years old, with gilded tower and pair of huge, all-seeing eyes, is a sacred site for Buddhists. |
| Day 1: | (12:00 - 4:00 pm) Drive to the ancient Newari city of Bhaktapur. Founded in the 9th century, Bhaktapur city is a museum of medieval art and architecture with many examples of sculpture, woodcarving and colossal pagoda and shikhara-style temples. |
