Description

This trek is slightly longer than the classic Everest Base Camp trek with an ascent of Gokyo Ri from where the views of turquoise Gokyo lakes are stunning.
 

After spending a day in Kathmandu, we take an exciting flight from Kathmandu, landing at the mountain airstrip at Lukla. We then walk through Sagarmatha National Park to arrive at the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. Here we rest and acclimatise before trekking to Thyangboche Monastery. From Lobuche we will firstly trek to Everest Base Camp before ascending the rocky outcrop of Kala Patthar, 5,545m/18,192ft. From the summit we get great views of Everest as well as other Himalayan giants. Next comes the exciting crossing of the Cho La, 5,400m/17,700ft, that leads from Everest over to Gokyo. An ascent of nearby Gokyo Ri, 5,357m/17,575ft, gives more spectacular views of Everest and the beautiful turquoise Gokyo lakes.

Day 1-2: Arrive in Kathmandu. The next day, fly to Lukla and begin the trek.
Day 3-4: Trek to Namche Bazaar, the largest Sherpa village in the Khumbu. Spend one day exploring the village and surrounding region to to aid in acclimatization.
Day 5-6: Trek to Khunde (3-4 hours), then on to Thyangboche (5 hours).
Day 7-9: trek to Dingboche (6 hours trek). Acclimatisation day at (4,350m/14,268ft). Your Sherpa will recommend walks so that you may explore the area, before trekking to Lobuche. (6 hours trek)
Day 10: Ascend to Everest Base Camp (5,300m/17,384ft). Enjoy sensational close-up views of Khumbu ice-fall. (6-7 hours trek)
Day 11: Ascend Kala Pattar (5,545m/18,188ft). From the summit of Kala Pattar there are great views of the summit of Everest. (6-7 hours trek)
Day 12-13: Trek to Dzong La, with stunning views of Cholatse Tso lake. (3-4 hours) Cross the Cho La, 5,420m (5-6 hour trek)
Day 14-15: Reach the settlement of Gokyo and climb Gokyo Ri (5,483m). The view of the surrounding mountains and lakes is stunning (8 hour trek)
Day 16-17: Trek to Namche Bazaar via Machermo (8 hours trek) and the Mong La.
Day 18: Return to Lukla and finish the trek. (5-6 hours trek)
Day 19-20: Fly to Kathmandu. On the following day embark on a guided sightseeing tour.
Day 21: International departure.
